Easier said than done. When somebody wrongs us it’s easy to fall prey to our ego and produce a “teach them a lesson” reaction or even wish for revenge. But acting on it will only lead to a losing battle because your target (i.e. feeling satisfied and ready to move on) is contingent upon other people or things you can’t necessarily control (i.e. if that person would feel bad and apologize, if that person would feel as horrible as they had made you)... and what if things don’t go your way?

I think the only way to be 100% certain that we “win” these battles is to win the battle within yourself. That need to make that person pay. That need to make everything in this world go the way you want it. Be so happy on your own that you don’t mind practicing kindness even to whose who have wronged you. Because how you treat other people is not a testament to what kind of person they are, but to what kind of person you are.
